Foundation formwork
To be verified whilst foundation formwork is underway
Flanges and footings
- Check that you have all of your building materials
- Measure distances using a tape measure
- Check that boundary markings are in place
- Locate the tradesmen’s entrance and make sure that it is located in the position indicated on the work plan
- Check the positioning of the footing against the plan
- Check the width of the footing (24” or 30” in accordance with the plan)
- Check the flange measurements (dimensions in length as per the plan)
- Check the 3 rebars parallel at 4'' from the ground during flange flow
- Check concrete flow
- Check the installation of the drain stuck to flanges
- Check the installation of the drain tile
- Check spread of gravel DB (drain tile and subfloor)
- Check the surveyor’s work (positioning of nails in the flanges)
- Check the installation of the geotextile membrane if requested
- Check the key in the exterior wall flange
Foundation walls
Measure distances using a tape measure
Check that the formworker has been given the correct specifications
Check the installation of the foundation or box windows (2*8 or 2*10)
Check wall widths (10” or 8” in accordance with plan)
Check wall heights (balcony + ground floor + garage + pillars)
Check positioning of openings for ducts (sleeves)
Check positioning of rebars (2 bars 15m at the top - bottom + top of windows)
Check concrete flow
Check breakage of formwork tie rods
Check plastered formwork tie rods

- Formwork and stripping of flanges and footings.
- Formwork and stripping of foundation walls.
- Installation of rebars in accordance with plans provided.
- Installation of windows and/or foundation frames in (2 x 8" or 2 x 10").
- Installation of ventilation flaps for cold storage rooms.
- Spread of stone at 3/4 net
- Installation of French drain
- Installation of styrofoam at the perimeter of the exterior garage walls (prior to backfill)
Practical tips
If the construction work is being carried out in between two houses, and there is little room for maneuver, it is strongly recommended that you have your foundation flanges staked out by a surveyor. This will ensure that your foundation walls are set up with greater precision.
