Floor materials
Make sure, with your sample, that the grade selected is indeed the one in the box. Place a few planks on the floor and fix them together to make sure they slot together correctly, and that they are all the same width.
For best results, we can recommend a professional certified floor layer who will lay your wooden floor competently and professionally.
Prior to receiving the materials, make sure that the atmospheric conditions are ideal in each of the rooms, and maintain these conditions prior to, during and after laying.
Check the humidity of the subfloor: it must be dry and well-aired. If the humidity level is too high, postpone the work until a later date. To speed up the drying process, turn up the heating as well as ventilators. You can ask your supplier what the correct humidity level should be..
To be verified whilst floor-laying work is underway
- Make sure to have your floor materials delivered several days before it is to be laid. The wood needs to adapt to the house temperature so as not to warp once it has been laid.
- Make sure that upon delivery the wood is not all placed in the same area on the floor. Wood can be extremely heavy and it is therefore advisable to spread it out over the entire area, so as to avoid unnecessary weight in one area.
To include in the contract
- Check the length of the floorboards in each packet.
- Indicate the wood species: maple, cherry, oak...
- Specify the wood grade: rustic, select grade, select and better grade...
Conseils pratiques
It is important to see a floor sample before ordering. The sample should cover at least 15P.C to give you an idea of the quality, the knots, the length of the floorboards and the color.
