Check that a membrane cover has been put in place before laying the floor.

To include in the contract

  • Wood to be laid as per the specifications provided
  • Staircase varnish and color (1 layer of dye and 2 layers of varnish (minimum) if needed.

Practical tips

Make sure to establish clearly with the painter what needs to be painted and with which paint.
If you wish to obtain the same color as your future floor, ask your floor sander to provide you with the dye and the product he has used to cover it.
Special attention should be paid to splashes of varnish on painted or sanded surfaces. The painter should bring the appropriate corrective products, if needed.
When measuring the surface to be covered, mark on the floor the type of covering chosen. This will avoid any expensive mistakes.
You should take into account the lay of any beams when working out the direction in which the floorboards are to be laid. If you have previously strengthened the drywall, there is no need for this.
Make sure that you select the same species of wood for your floor, ramps and stairs.
If you plan to color your floors, choose a species that is suitable for dying.
