Anybody planning building work involving construction, alteration, extension, or adding on to existing buildings must obtain a building permit from his/her municipality.

When applying for the building permit, he/she must provide the municipality surveyor with all relevant information and documents outlining the project.

If the project fulfills the required conditions, the building permit will generally be issued within a few days following the request.
